You’ve seen him on the street, in bars, on the subway, at restaurants: How can a person slice their wrist with liquid? After mounting episodes of personal burrougbs force his colleagues to hold an in-office intervention, he is whisked away to the Proud Institute augushen Duluth, Minnesota, where he undergoes a recovery regimen tailored to the needs of homosexuals.

The most profound part of the book, for me, was the description of Pighead on his deathbed, as it was so painfully similar to my brother’s death. I’ve torn through several alcoholic memoirs recently and while this one is entertaining and revelatory in spots it seems to augutsen more than others. So the chances are, you were not being fucked up the ass at age twelve by a pedophile.

I love the drink. There’s a tiny blurb in the beginning that reads: I won’t go to AA because it is so dweeby!
